Grateful blog

I am grateful for many things. One thing I am thankful for is my family and friends. I'm thankful for them because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be who I am right know. I am thankful for my friends because they are always their for me on my ups and downs. I am thankful for my family because they have teached many lessons in life that lead me through the good path. Thanks to them people describe me as a nice and kind girl because if all the good manners they have teached me .


   I am thankful for my education in  so many ways. I really like the
teachers they are all nice and help me when I need help with anything. They give me time to do my work if I don't get it. Also they give me advice and help me get a better score and improve. They are always keeping track on me and other students to see when I they need help. Thanks to the I've learned many things that will help me at some point in my life. All the 3 years I've been in heritage all the teachers have been great to me I can't say anything bad about them because they have been great to me.

        I am thankful for my sister because she has been with me  through everything. I know that I can always count on her and she will always be here for me no matter what happened. I love the way we interacts with each other and the way we help each other. We are a bond that can never be broken. We might have problems at some point but we always find a way to say sorry to each other. She has taught me many life lessons and has always been their to give me advise on any problems I have.

"Unemployed? What’s the reason?!”

“Unemployed? What’s the reason?!”

 More than 102 million working age americans do not have a job. There are many reason for being jobless. The culture that you are from or your skin color is also a big problem with finding a job. Currently this is called racism.There are some jobs that do not accept certain people considering their skin color. This is a major reason why some people in that country do not have jobs. This is a dumb reason because if there were in the same situation that they are passing they will notice that it’s not
fair to do that.

  Gender is also a big role in unemployment. In the website is says “In 2007 women in sales occupations had an unemployment rate of 5.7%, compared with a rate of only 3.8% for men”. This quote is showing us how in some jobs they don't like women to work there because maybe it might bear too difficult for them. According to the men's percentage and the women’s we can tell that more women are unemployed than men.

               For, families being unemployed is more than just losing a job. According to what I've seen, heard, and read about being unemployed it affects your self esteem,  but most importantly your family. Some effects in the family is that they don't have enough money to eat or even to pay for their kids education. Also some kids get mad at their parents because that is their most difficult time and some kids or teenagers might ask for money from their parents and their parents are not able to give them any.


       Stress is a very big part of being unemployed. The mother and father might not eventually talk to  each other for days because the woman might be mad that the husband quit his job. Another stress is not being able to  have enough money to eat or to pay your child's education. Some people use unemployed can't even find another job and that is a big struggle for them. In the website is said “If it is hard to find one it is harder to lose it” . This quote is something that tells people to appreciate what you are given and to prove that being unemployed Is not something easy.


Being unemployed is scary and more if their is only one person in the house that pays everything and has children to feed. There are many reasons for people to care about when being unemployed. People should care about being  unemployed because If you don't have a job how are you going to survive. Having a job is something that every person should do at Some point of their lives because it helps you with many things. Some people may not go to college and not get to be what they Wanted but their are many other opportunities for them.  Another reason why they should care is because you can’t just live without any work. Paying the bills of the house is a bug priority and if you are unemployed you will not have a phone to contact with anybody, tv so entertain yourself or your family, water to take a shower or drink from, and electricity to be abler to cook or do many other things.

There are many ways that people can make a change of being unemployed.Some people might start panicking when they lose a job, built some won’t. Some of them might start right away to look for another job. But, they should not spend such a long time looking for a job because that’s when stress comes in

         Donald trump had tweeted in Sunday that he had won the popular vote. He said that if you were to subtract the millions of people who voted illegally he would've won it. He claimed that their was cheating in Virginia, New Hampshire and California. But , however Clinton had won the popular vote. Democrats have said that they have no signs that someone might of hacked that would change the results.

          Their was many paragraphs sounded interesting out to me during reading my article. One of the paragraphs that were interesting to me was when they say that “ Trump used Twitter to send a message Sunday. He said that he won the popular vote if you subtract the millions of people who voted when they were not supposed to. He later claimed there were voters cheating in Virginia, New Hampshire and California.” . This Paragraph sounds interesting to me because in this paragraph he is saying that he didn't really needed the help of the people that voted illegally because either way he would've been able to win the Election. This to me sounds insulting to the people that voted because it's like saying that they don't need them. Another reason was that why is he assuming that they cheated I some countries when he doesn't have any evidence to prove that it's true.



          I have learned many new things during reading my article. One thing that I learned was that Donald trump is saying that many people voted illegally during the election. According to this he said that votes will be counted gain in some states. Some place that voted that Wayne were in Virginia, new hamsphire, and California. But Donald trump might of have won the election but Hilary Win the popular vote.

Today during our gallery walk in ELA  I learning many new things. Most of them have to do with the whole world and most of them have to do with certain areas. One interesting topic that I learned today about was that teachers are coming up with new ideas for their students to focus more on their school work. This article is persuading teachers to try it out for their students. The new object that teachers came up with was to get new seats for their students . According to the article these seats can help students to focus more on their school work and to put more attention. But, it also shows that not all the kids might be comtarble with sitting on them , some might get distracted. So according to this teachers have normal chairs for the students that can’t handle it.

   Another thing I learned was about the struggles that a Syrian family had to face. This family lived in a peaceful place in Syria with no violence. But, time
passed were they pieced started to become an unsafe place. After this happened the family decided to move . They lived in a refuge camp were they weren't able to work. So,  they decided to move to the United States but the United States did a background check and it took them 2 whole years. People are saying that they were judging them because from were they came.
   
     

2016 Elections

November 10, 2016



                 According to what I saw yesterday in the TV I was honestly shocked because according to all the stuff that Donald Trump has been saying I can't believe that people still voted for him. I also think that it's a weird how so many people voted for him,I think that they were just being selfish. As soon as I saw that Donald Trump had won I felt like if my world was over because just imagine all the damage he can do to this country and especially to the people that weren’t born here in the United States. After everything I have heard of him as fed what people have been saying of him it’;s just like this is not possible to happen. My thoughts before the election started was that Hilary Clinton was going to win, I wasn’t even worried about trump because I had this idea in my head. But know that I know he won I just hope that he doesn't damage the country we are in and the people that live her, because that people that are in the United States are here for a reason and that's because they know that they can get better opportunities than other states and I hope that he doesn't change that.

               My thoughts to the elections results are horrible. I just couldn't believe how people were voting for him so much. According to the results Donald won. But what helped him a lot was by winning in the state of Florida. But thanks to God and to everyone who voted for Hilary Clinton he wasn't able to win Chicago. It just Dosen’t  go throw my head how people are going to let him separate families just because of his dumb ideas. According to the rules the lucky number was 270 and unfortunately he made it up to that number.



         B   Some issues that I think are important about this elections is that I don't want him to put families apart. The reason I'm saying this is because Trump had said in his speeches that he was going to deport all the people that are illegal. I think this is not fair because people moved to the United States for a reason, that reason is to get a better life and have more chances for your children's future and yours. Another big issue about this election was that their is going to be people fighting because they don't want Donald Trump to be our new president. Also I'm 100% sure that in this country people are going to fight more because we have a lot of democrats here, and they wouldn’t like it to be apart from their family.

Veteran's Day Poem

And others deserved a pride.

    They fought through many days and night.
I'm proud of all the soldiers who kept thinking
Of red, white and blue through everything.

"Made History"

October 24th, 2016

                On this day, October 22, 2016 after 71 years of playing , the Chicago Cubs won against the Dodgers, Los Angeles at Wrigley Field. Fireworks followed with people screaming in joy. People with flags and their bright color Cubs shirt. Their final score was 0-5. Families cheering and hugging with such an emotion. It was an insane night for the Cubs. The next day all you could see was that Cubs had made history.

1st Quarter Refelctions

October 27th, 2016.    

           According to my list for the 10 book challenge I have read 3 books. Currently I'm reading “ No summit out of sight” which is my 4th book in my list. The other 3 books I have read have been “Paper Towns”, “ The Giver”, and “ The fault in our stars”. I really like doing this 10 book challenge because it helps me get better at my reading skills  and helps me understand more in life. Another reason is because it helps me learn new words that I've maybe had never heard or didn’t know the meaning of it. Since we read the book “ The Giver “ and Mrs. Larson taught us a strategy while reading the book,  which is called singpost it helped me a lot while I was reading my other books and also It helped me understand what was happening in the book.

         According to the work I have been doing in Language Arts some strategies have benefit me. One strategies that has benefit me has been objective summaries. I used to always think that their was just one kind of summaries but I noticed that their wasn't. Mrs. Larson has teached me that there's a lot of ways that people can write a summary, it can be based on your own opinions by using first person point of view or using third person meaning like if you were writing a newscast. Another strategy that has benefit me has been signpost. Doing signposts has helped me a lot during reading my books and it especially helped me a lot while reading “The Giver”.


     I have learned a lot of stuff about the world. One lesson that I have learned is that not everything is easy . Sometimes you have to put part of your effort into your work and not let anyone do it because it’s not helping you, it's just damaging you more in your understanding. Also I've learned that your teachers are not going to be with your for the rest of your life, you have to be able to understand what they are teaching you because later on you will be on your own without a teacher to be remembering you what to do or without your parent because you will be an adult. You are the one that has to get your life together because it's not the teacher job to tell you to do this or that,  but they just want to make you a better person and teach you lessons that might helped you in life.
       

Film vs book

October 17th, 2016

 In the book “ The Giver “ and their was a lot of differences. One such difference was in the book when Jonas is escaping, he dosent come in contract with Asher. In the movie, Asher tries to stop him. Jonas didn't let anybody get into his business in that moment. Unfortunately, he got mad that he punched Asher.  Another difference was when Jonas is number 19 in the book and he was number 52 in the movie. In chapter 7 it says “ Jonas was nineteen. He had been the nineteenth new child born this year. It had meant that at his naming, he had been already standing and bright - eyed , soon to walk and talk “ p. 50. The quote that I found in page 50 proves to us that Jonas was a different number in the book than in the movie.

       

              On my personal opinion I think that Brenton was not the best option for him to be Jonas. In the movie and in the book he did play the nervous part right but that's was really the only thing that was the same about him in the book and the movie. In the Movie Jonas appears as a 15 year old boy and in the book he is described as a 12 year old boy. But , also not just Jonas was portrayed differently . Asher and Fiona were too. If I was the director of the movie I would've chosen someone more young . After all Brenton did a good job acting on the movie and the way he was in the book as Jonas.


          My opinion as I watched the movie and read the book is that the book is better and more understandable than the movie . I liked the book better because it had a lot of events that were really interesting and easy to understand. But as you can see in the movie it was confusing because it was way different than the book. For example in the book there was still a long time for the ceremony to happen and in the movie it started a day before the ceremony.  According to this example it's one of the reasons why I liked the book better. Also I liked the book better because it had more details and it was more interesting to actually imagine. Another part of the movie that I didn't like was that in the book they describe him as a 12 year old boy but in the movie he looks like if he was 14 or 15.

"The Giver " Theme

               According to the book it shows us that Jonas is a Dynamic character. Jonas is a Dynamic character because during the book he has been changing. At first Jonas was always thinking about himself and no one else ,he was being selfish. A quote that shows us this is where it says “ He had waited a long time for this especial December , now that I was almost upon him , he wasn't frightened , but he was ….. Eager , he decided. He was eager for it to come” (4) This quote shows us that he was just thinking about what he was going to get as a job and he didn't think about wishing luck to others. But yet he was still nice to others. After Jonas got the job of the receiver of memories he started to change a lot he was more mean to others. He didn't do what he was supposed to do. One example that shows this is when he lied to his parent about him taking his pills which he really wasn't. In this part it shows us how Jonas is starting to not accept the rules. Another quote was when it says “ Jonas did not want to go back. He didn't want the memories , didn't want the honor , didn't want the wisdom, didn't want the pain” p. 121 This quote shows us that Jonas is changing because he wants to give the memories to Gabriel but “The Giver “ kept telling to not do it because it's nice to have memories. Also after a while Jonas actually learned what the word released meant. He was mad because he couldn't believe that his dad had been lying  to him and that he has been doing such crime in such a long time. According to this example Jonas has been lied about his community he thought that the word released was when they give the babies to other families that will actually take care of them. It turns out that they actually kill them instead of giving them to another family that will actually take good care of them.


               One of many themes in the book “ The Giver “ by Lois Lowry is to find love you need to go through hardship. As Jonas starts to get the memories he start to feel love and emotions. Before he was assigned to be the receiver of memories he was like everybody in the community , the people that didn't have feelings or felt love. One quote that shows us this theme is when Jonas is escaping from the community and he says “ But the moment passed and was followed by an urge, a need, a passionate yearning to share the warmth into the thin, shivering body in his arm” p. 177 This quote is showing us that Jonas started to feel love for Fiona. If Jonas was had not been assigned as the receiver of Memories he would've never felt emotions or feelings. But, Jonas is not the only one that has feelings. As we can see in page 141 It shows us that “ The Giver” has feelings too. This is shown in the part when he talks about Rosemary. This example is a perfect example to show us that “ The Giver” ale has feelings because he said that his heart broke when he had to transfer the pain. But, he
had no choice, it was his job.

           

"The Giver " Blog

              While reading "The Giver " by Lois Lowry there had been a lot of words that appeared again and again . One such word that appeared again and again was the word Ceremony. In chapter 4, Jonas keep talking about the Ceremony that was about to happen in the month of December . The ceremony is called " The Ceremony of Twelve " . Suddenly " He laughed softly. Thinking about the Ceremony again, Jonas. He teased himself. " ( page # 29) I think that this keeps coming up again and again because maybe it's going to be an important event in the story that is going to happen. It can impact the story or make it better and more interesting .


                  In the book “ The Giver” I noticed some contrast and contradictions between our society and Joan's society. On page five there was one contrast and contradictions. One contrast and contradiction was the word “animals”.This word is “..... Often used to describe someone uneducated or clumsy, someone who didn't fit in”p .5 . This quote is showing us that in their society this word is not common and is not used as what we describe it. In our society , everyone knows this word means animals, meaning species like elephants, giraffes, and a lions.  We are used  to this word because we hear it all over the world and we have animals all over the world.

Introduction to me

Welcome ! I'm currently an 8th grader and this is my 3 year coming to Heritage . I really enjoy this school because the people here are really nice to me . This is my last year here in Heritage and Im  going to graduate from middle school in 2017. One of my goals in life is to graduate from the High School I want to go to and then after  keep studying to achieve what I want to be in life.


I have a family of 6 my mom, dad, 19 yr old sister , 4 yr old brother, 1 yr old brother , and of course me ! My 19 yr old sister is on her 2nd year of College. Me and my family this summer went to California and  Michigan , we had a lot of fun.

Some places that I will love to go in  life is Paris , Italy,  and Hawaii. I had aNother place in my list but finally this year I got to go which was Cancun. I spend about a week in Mexico, I went with my cousin and my aunt . That was always my dream and thanks to them and my Parents I accomplished it. Some things that I like to do is go shopping , Traveling , spend time with my family, and taking care of my brothers.
